Preparing for Your Visa Application: The Importance of EOI Scoring
It is important to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) and score at least 65 points before applying for a visa. Success in EOI is important and depends on several criteria:
- Age
- Educational qualifications (whether it’s a Diploma, Degree, or PhD)
- English language proficiency
- Work experience
- Marital status and partner’s skills
- NAATI Accreditation
- Completion of a Professional Year program

**Note: Five points may be added to your EOI for an Australian degree, certificate, or trade qualification. However, you must meet specific requirements to qualify for these extra points.
Visa Eligibility Essentials

- You must not be older than 45 years, as this is the maximum age for the visa.
- Select a career from the Medium and Long Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL).
- Demonstrate reasonable proficiency in English.
- Have your skills officially evaluated by selected review boards.
- Get the required score according to your specific visa application.
- Meet health and behavioural requirements.
Health and Character Requirements for Visa
All applicants and their family members must:
- Complete a medical examination within 12 months before applying for a visa.
- Provide police certificates from any country where they have lived for 12 months or more in the past 10 years when they turned 16 years old.
Proof of English Proficiency
Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency with a minimum score on one of these tests:
- Pearson Test of English (PTE) with a minimum of 50 in each of the four sections.
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum of 6 in each of the four test sections.
- Equivalent score on TOEFL iBT, OET, or CAE.
Clearance of Debts to the Australian Government
Applicants must not have any outstanding debt with the Australian Government before the visa is granted.
