Employer Sponsored Visa

About EMPLOYER-SPONSORED Visa

We at Kanberra Immigrations specialize in simplifying Australia’s visa process. Employer-sponsored visas are perhaps the most popular form of permanent and temporary migration to Australia. As the name suggests, these visas are primarily sponsored by employers in Australia to recruit skilled workers. Applicants for this category of immigrants must provide a job order or job description, a declaration of employer support, and appropriate documentation supporting professional qualifications.

Types of Employment Sponsored Visa

  • Employer Nomination Scheme (SC 186)
  • Temporary Skill Shortage Visa (Subclass 482)
  • Skilled Employer Sponsored Visa (SC 494)
  • Training Visa (Subclass 407)
  • Temporary Work Visa (SC 457) [CLOSED]

Visa Options
In Australia, employer-sponsored visas are valid for both temporary and permanent, the former for four years, the latter beyond that period temporary visas are often permanent option visas.

Temporary Visa

The most commonly requested temporary visa is subclass 457, sometimes called a long-term employment visa. Employers can nominate multiple individuals for positions under one application. Only professionals and skilled workers are eligible for this subsidized visa.

To recruit a group of skilled workers, an employer may apply for an ‘employment contract’. These agreements allow Australian employers to use skilled foreign workers for their business or products. ‘Service vendors’ is a new category of temporary visa that allows foreign suppliers of goods or services to enter into commercial agreements with Australian companies following the provisions of the GATS (General Agreement of Trade and Services).

Permanent Visa

An immigrant on a permanent visa is allowed to live in Australia and work in Australia. Employers can choose to sponsor eligible foreign workers for longer than four years through the Employer Enrolment Program. Those travelling to Australia on an ENS visa, also known as a subclass 186 visa, are allowed to stay and work permanently. Employers in remote or regional parts of Australia can hire skilled foreign workers on RSM (regional sponsored migration) program visas, commonly referred to as subclass 187. An immigrant to this country on a temporary visa can become a permanent resident under the ENS or RSMS
