Adoption Visa (Subclass 102)
Adoption visas (subclass 102) are intended for children who have been adopted or are about to be adopted by an Australian, Australian permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen This allows these children to remain in Australia.
In most cases, the adoptive parent submits the visa application for the child and assumes financial support responsibilities.
If state or territory adoption authorities are involved in adoption, a visa application may be submitted before completion of the adoption process

Applicant Eligibility Criteria
Adoptive parents must apply for this visa as the child:
- Is under 18 years of age
- He lives outside Australia
- Is accepted or already accepted by the sponsor
- Meets health and behaviour standards
- There is evidence that they are assured of help
Note: If the child is under 18 at the time of application but is 18 before the visa is issued, they will not be eligible for this visa.

Note: If the child is under the age of 18 at the time of application but has completed the age of 18 before the visa is granted, the child will not be considered eligible for this visa.

Including Family Members in Your Visa Application
You can add your siblings to your visa application.
The health and behavioural requirements of all dependent family members must be met.
Health and Background Checks
Every applicant included in the visa application and their dependent family members must provide this:
- Health checks completed within 12 months before submitting a visa application
- Police certificates showing any country you have lived in for more than 12 months in the last 10 years
Financial Obligations to the Australian Government
Before your visa will be granted, you must acknowledge or arrange for the resolution of any outstanding financial obligations to the Australian Government.
